Types of Skin Care services at Aesthetic Surgical Images
Skin care treatments are both versatile and can be home- or office-based. Some skin treatments are performed alone while others may be combined with facial plastic surgery to dramatically enhance the look of the skin.
In order to serve each patient with a unique skin care regimen, Aesthetic Surgical Images offers a full menu of services and procedures in Omaha. Patients can elect to receive:
Medical-Grade Skin Care
Our surgeons can prescribe a customized skin care routine based on an individual patient’s skin type. These tailored treatments offer the most comprehensive approach to improving overall skin tone and texture. With this in mind, a specially trained staff can provide skin care tips for specific medical conditions and imperfections.
Our experts have seen consistently effective results with the use of the Obagi Condition & Enhance System. This dual system begins with prescription-strength skin care, which may be targeted to reduce not only severe acne marks and scars, but also signs of aging, and hyperpigmentation. It’s also a great renewal process for patients who are wondering how to keep skin young without surgery.
By creating smooth, even, and healthy skin, a patient’s facial features become the focus rather than their skin imperfections. For this reason, Anti-aging skin care not only helps to reverse existing issues but can also improve the quality of the skin moving forward.
During a skin care program at Aesthetic Surgical Images, the Obagi skin care system is followed up with a medium-strength TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel. In order to get best results, patients should use the Obagi system daily for 6 weeks prior to the Blue Peel® by Obagi.
By combining these skin care techniques, our surgeons are able to help patients reduce or eliminate:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Uneven pigmentation
- Sun damage
- Age spots
Additionally, our doctors can help patients better control their chronic skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea. So with this in mind, skin care is customized to meet each patient’s unique needs.
Prescription LATISSE® for eyelash growth
LATISSE® is an FDA-approved product that is designed to enhance eyelash growth. This prescription-only topical solution allows patients to grow lashes that are all in all darker, thicker, and longer. Bolder eyelashes also accentuate the eyes and are a universal symbol of youth and beauty.
Once a day, patients apply the product to the base of the lashes with a small brush, which gradually creates results that are visible in 2-4 months. With this in mind, patients can maintain their results with ongoing daily applications.
Chemical peels
Our preferred chemical peel solution is the Blue Peel® by Obagi. This medium-depth TCA peel is an excellent option for addressing issues like fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, and throughout the face. As a matter of fact, the procedure helps to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation (dark spots and uneven dark areas) and acne scarring.
We perform TCA peels at our Omaha clinic, however, they may require light oral sedation. With this in mind, depending on the level of sedation, patients may require to arrange a ride back home for safety reasons. The peel application takes about an hour and a skin care specialist will perform it.
Facelift surgery can correct sagging tissues of the face, but it will not improve the condition of the skin. Blue Peel® by Obagi carefully removes the superficial skin layers to reveal a fresh, smooth complexion through chemical exfoliation. Some patients can benefit from undergoing a series of these peels.
The majority of patients experience little to no discomfort after undergoing a TCA peel, and a topical anesthetic can be applied to reduce discomfort. During the application process, patients may feel a slight burning sensation that lasts for about 10 minutes. The facial skin will appear pink or red in color, and the dead skin will begin to slough off. After 5-7 days, the peeling process should be complete and patients can begin to enjoy their results as new skin cells regenerate the area.
Dermabrasion
Another type of skin resurfacing procedure is dermabrasion, which is a mechanical exfoliation of the uppermost layers of skin, performed with controlled surgical sanding. We use a handheld tool to abrade the skin until we reach an optimal depth that promote skin renewal and to resolve skin imperfections. Candidates for the procedure are less prone to scarring and have deeper defects of the skin.
We perform Dermabrasion under general anesthesia. Both Dermabrasion and chemical peels can be performed as standalone procedures, or in conjunction with other treatments.
After the dermabrasion procedure, patients might experience mild discomfort and swelling. Our staff can provide and recommend products to enhance comfort during the healing process. As the skin repairs itself, a scab will form and disappear within 1-2 weeks. After healing, fresh, vibrant skin reveals itself, making patients look younger. Patients should plan to have a ride home from the appointment due to the effects of the anesthesia and should plan to take 1-2 weeks off from work due to their appearance during the recovery.
Sclerotherapy
Red, blue, and purple veins can be eliminated from the skin with an injectable therapy called sclerotherapy. Then, we inject a salt-based solution into the prominent veins, which effectively collapses the backed-up blood vessels and causes them to gradually disappear. Sclerotherapy is ideal for treating spider veins and varicose veins, though surgical removal of varicose veins may be necessary in more extensive cases.
Sclerotherapy can provide some health benefits, such as pain management for the discomfort caused by enlarged veins, and by promoting healthy circulation to high-functioning veins. The sessions generally take about 30 minutes to perform. Most patients should book two sessions in order to ensure maximum efficacy.
These skin treatments are designed to correct different types of skin issues, whether is “problem” skin in teenagers and young adults or mature skin exhibiting lines and wrinkles.
In addition to focusing on facial rejuvenation, different treatments can also address various skin concerns of the body. We can also apply a chemical peel solution to the chest and décolleté or hands, and dermabrasion can help on areas of the body that age more rapidly.
Sclerotherapy, an injectable solution that reduces the appearance of unwanted spider and varicose veins, is typically performed on the lower extremities. Body treatments help promote full confidence in one’s appearance.
