It’s not unusual for patients to request treatment of facial wrinkles with Botox. This procedure is associated with excellent clinical results and high levels of patient satisfaction.
Vertical glabellar frown lines, transverse forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet are routinely treated with Botox. Botox acts upon the underlying muscles in these areas, which lessens wrinkles and yields an excellent clinical result.
In addition to these areas, Botox can also be used to treat the lower eyelids, upper lips, chin area, and neck bands. When these areas are injected, the injector’s skill-set is especially important and can ultimately impact the results.
Unfortunately, not every patient with wrinkles is a candidate for Botox. Some patients with severe skin sag may require a face-lift. Other patients with diffuse facial wrinkles may require skin resurfacing with chemical peels or laser treatments. It’s therefore important to consult a plastic surgeon who can perform a comprehensive evaluation and determine which option is best for you.
